A Snail's Pace

Weight loss for the week: a whopping 0.5 poounds! :( I know it's probably been hard to keep up with to date, so here's a progress chart:

As you can see, I've been hovering over the 10-pound weight loss mark for a while now. I guess I should be happy, given that my eating was lackluster & my workouts were even less so! My lofty goals of performing the Tracy Anderson bootcamp everyday amounted to 3 days of partial workouts.  It was pretty difficult this past week to find 1.5 hours a day to perform her suggested workout routine. Funny, I woke up at 3-4AM most days of the week to go to work while in residency. Now that I've had to do the same thing the past two weeks for work now totally wipes my energy level out for the rest of the day, lol!

Now, with all that being said, how do I get myself back on track?

Well, I'm going to have to go back to waking up early to get my workout in. I'm a morning person, so it's either AM workout or none at all! :(

Speaking of workout, I'm off to complete today's routine: TA Bootcamp/Sequence 1 + Dance Cario. Wish me luck, lol! Until next week....

On To The Next One

...fitting title, given that I'm bummed about missing the Jay-Z & Emenim concert tonight at Yankee stadium, lol. It's also fitting because I realize that my motivation was lacking over the past two weeks (hence my lack of posting), which led to a fledgling approach to fitness. Combine that with a trip to Miami, with a travel schedule that brought on old eating habits.  The end result was a 5 pound backslide! The later part of this past week, I've been vigilent about getting my eating on track, but my workouts have been slow to follow.

The day I got back from Miaimi, however, the Tracy Anderson book I had pre-ordered months before lay on my doorstep...as if it was a sign, lol!

To vastly summarize, this book is a 30-day bootcamp comprising of the muscular structure work Tracy has made famous, a much simpler version of her dance cardio, plus a diet. Starting today, I will begin performing her muscular structure work & cardio as prescribed. I have never been nor will I ever be a fan of "diets". The thought of following any sort of diet almost instantaneously compells me to overeat. I prefer to just focus of eating healthy, wholesome meals made of fresh, non-packaged ingredients.

Whereas in the past, Tracy advocated for working out 6x/wk, she ups the ante in this book suggesting you work out everyday to achieve your perfect proportion! That's right....everyday! Will be challenging for me, given that I start my training this week with long commuting times. Here we go....

Manic Mondays

Well, it's the culmination of week 1. My Plan was:

Tracy Anderson Perfect Design Series 2 + TA Dance Cardio + healthy eating

  • Workouts: I managed to do 4 of my anticipated 6 workouts; good, but not great!
  • Je Manges: I indulged this past weekend, from my friend's rooftop party on Friday night to dinner at a very nice French resturant in the Village with friends on Saturday night. My choices weren't terrible, but weren't great either. All in all, it was worth it to spend some quality time with friends.

My weigh-in: + 1 pound
(making my overall balance of a 9 pound weight loss)

Onward & upward to week 2:  I felt inspired yesterday after reading the blogs of fellow health enthusiasts & found great recipes staples in my diet. I came home from the grocery store & proceeded to make the most delicious pancakes breakfast, followed by a 5-minute chocolate cake for a mid-afternoon snack. Both were high in protein content, just what I need to fuel my muscles for my exercise sessions.

5 Minute Bananna Caramel Chocolate Cake
Yummmm! I can get used to this. ;)

The New Dawn

It's been a week of my new six-week rotation. My plan is to follow the Tracy Anderson Method, following the Perfect Design Series DVD integrated with her Dance Cardio (2008). Tracy's ideal approach is the change up your program every 10 days or until you master the moves. Given that the moves are HARD, I figure it make take me a little londer than 10 days, lol! My plan is to workout 6 days a week. Thus far, I only managed to workout 4 days. Once I finally muster up some motivation, I'll workout today.

My eating this past week was pretty decent until this weekend. I haven't seen many of my friends, so this was the weekend for catching up. But it's fine; eveything in moderation!

I tend to do my weigh-ins on Mondays, so we'll see the final verdict tomorrow!

Round I Results

Hi Guys!

Well, it's August 20th, a little over six weeks since I resumed a workout regimen & healthy eating conquest. I've taken pictures (bikini shots) chronicling my transformation thus far, but I won't post those until there is a significant difference, lol.

My game plan to date: Slim in 6 series (hey, it worked before!) with a little Lagniappe, which included exercises from Tracy Anderson, Jennifer Nicole Lee, & the Tone It Up gals Karena & Katrina!.

In terms of eating, I been buying organic food where I can, plus incorporating more fruits & vegetables into my meals a la The Eat Clean Diet + some tips from the Tone It Up blog. Amazing, but I went from eating out 100% of the time to cooking 98% of my meals! Of course, being a Louisiana girl, I'm having fun with trying to give everything a cajun flair, lol! I can't lie though, it has not been all clean. I developed quite a jellybean obsession while studying for my boards! :( Well, the boards are over, but I haven't kicked the habit yet. Nonetheless, I have had some success. Drumroll please...

Results to date-> 10 pounds & 9.5 inches gone in 6 weeks!!!!

Not the greatest pic, especially since this t-shirt is huge, but I think you can see I'm a little smaller....okay, a very tiny bit!

It's certainly gotten harder now that I'm a little older. The first time around, the weight seemed to just fall off, whereas now, it seems to be trickling off at ~a pound a week. Slow & steady is cool....cause I'm still going to win the race, lol!

If It Ain't Broke!...

My plan of attack for losing weight is to:

  1. Eat Healthy: meaning eating more fruits & vegetables. I plan of cooking most of my meals at home versus eating out all of the time. No more hospital cafeteria either! WoooooHoooooo!!!
  2. Slim in 6: I'll do two weeks of Ramp It Up followed by four weeks of Burn It Up, as outlined on the SI6 calender. Hey, it worked before! I plan on "Pressing Play" six days a week.
Wish me luck!
